Question Widest Wheel & Tire Combo?

What's the widest wheels and tires that can be put on safely without fender rolling on either 1g or a 2g? Offset? Suggestions? Experience? Advice? I'm thinking about getting some 17x8's but not exactly sure on the correct offset without requiring fender work.

Anyone?

Re: Widest Wheel & Tire Combo?

I have 17x8's on my 1g. I am pretty sure the offset is +35. I run 235/45 tires, no scrubbing and I didn't roll the fenders. My car is also lowered some on H&R springs.

2g's can go 18x8.5 with 245s before rubbing and fender rolling. The offset's probably gotta be conservative at like +35 to +40 though.

3rd gen rx-7 wheels (16x8) with 5/16" spacer and 245/50/16 don't fit on a 95 gsx, but 3rd gen rx-7 wheels and 225/50/16 will fit with out any fitment issues and there is only about a 2% difference in your speedo.

Re: Widest Wheel & Tire Combo?

Well, Spring is here and the winter tires have to come off. Time for new wheels. I am looking at the following, let me know what you guys think in regards to fitment and style.

5Zigen FN01R-C Black Lip Polish
17x7 215/50-17 +35/+42
17x8 225/45-17 +35/+43

Gram Lights 57C - Silver/Gold/GunMetal
17x7.5 215/50-17 +40
17x8.5 225/45-17 +40

What do you guys think?

Gram Lights hands down, silver or gunmetal.

Re: Widest Wheel & Tire Combo?

I've seen 16" (16x8 I believe) 3000GT/Stealth rims with 245/45R16s on a few 1g's. Looks really nice. Also Ford Probe/MX6 rims, 300ZX TT rims, etc. Painted...they look quite nice.

Gram Lights are nice, but pricey. Also check out the SSR Competitions (Comp-X, Comp-H, etc) at www.tirerack.com. They are also forged and very light. And a tad cheaper.
