Re: Tranny Rebuild

You will need access to a hydraulic press in order to get the bearings off. Also you will need some sort of claws to get under the bearing while pushing down on the shaft with the press. So basically you suspend the entire shaft with the claw under the bearing and press down on the shaft. Some of the bearings are tight up against gears where it's kind of a bitch. You should do a squish test so you'll need a digital calipers. Some of the bearings require preload and others endplay. Also you'll need some sort of snap ring plyers to get those off as there are a few of them.

* Press
* Gear Puller
* Snap Ring Plyers
* General tools
* Parts washer

Neatness, patience and thoroughness should be added to that list but is a given. If you do decided to do this, make sure everything goes back the same way it went on. For example the hub/sleeve assemblies go on a certain way. They look the same at first look but the outter part is tapered more on one side than the other. The book is a must!!!

Good Luck!
