Why does this keep happening?

I recently replaced my power steering pump with an Advance Auto remanufactured pump. I also replaced the belt with their expensive belt.
I just broke my third belt today. Everything seems tight but it keep splitting.
I don't see it rubbing anywhere. I'm lost. Anyone had this problem before?

I thought about that but it's pretty good every time. ABout 3/8 " deflection at 20lbs.

Re: Why does this keep happening?

Could it be an alignment issue? Like the pulleys are out of alignment? Or could pitting on a pulley do this?

Yeah, It happend to me before on my 420a, Then I left it off. It's definitely the alignment i'm pretty sure. Do what above person said and see. Otherwise inspect pulleys for sharp edges and what not.

When your alignment was off, what was out of alignment? How do you adjust that? Thanks!

The pulley isn't on backwards, is it? Several of the pulleys are really easy to put on backwards.

Re: Why does this keep happening?

I don't really remember as it was in HS but i think my pulley was bad. But do what JET said also. Like I said, I also just took off the belt because I got sick of it. Maybe my PS bracket was bent.

Did you take off your crank pulley recently by chance?

Nope. The guy before me had problems breaking belts and stuff too. I only replaced the power steering pump and put the tensioner in. (It had a bolt in it instead -__-)
I'll look at it tomorrow I guess so I can pull it into the shop and look. Thanks guys. This is so freakin annoying :P

Re: Why does this keep happening?

Check the water pump pulley too, they are easy to put on backwards. You have to take the timing belt cover off for that so it isn't real easy.
