Fiav Blockoff Plate

Does anyone know about this? Good, Bad? I have read alittle bit about it and to me it sounds like its not a bad idea. And from what I got out of it the coolant only runs through there for cold starts. Also where can I buy a blockoff plate?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Fiav Blockoff Plate

We have them in stock (from QPR).
Its a fairly straight forward mod, and has been discussed on this forum before. The problem is it deletes your ICS motor, and that really helps with your idle under all conditions.

Re: Fiav Blockoff Plate

Ive been searchin and searching but noone gives a straight forward answer. The car isnt driven in the winter so Im not worried about it getting the revs up for faster warm up. As for the ICS, is that bad if thats gone. All the threads I have read everyone says everything runs smoothly. BUT would having that disconnected throw a check engine light?

Re: Fiav Blockoff Plate

i've been running one for over 2 years now and i really like it. it takes a lot of things out of the equation that can fuck with your idle.

Jet made it for me btw.

Re: Fiav Blockoff Plate

I run one works great no more Idle surge. It takes a few minutes for it to idle right but when its warm it idles great. If you have maft you can switch on the start up enrichment. It works great with the faiv plate

Re: Fiav Blockoff Plate

Just JB Weld in the correct area of the bottom part of the throttle body. Then you can bypass the FIAV and still keep idle motor function.

Re: Fiav Blockoff Plate

I have one as well from QPR. I did it for the simple fact that it eliminates a couple things from the equation, and no more idle surge. It does take the car a little while to warm up to idle right though, but doesn't bother me.

And the idle motor, it allows more or less air into the engine in certain situations. Like when you turn on the AC, it bogs down the engine a little, so the ISC opens up slightly more to allow more air into the engine at idle, so your RPM's stay at where you want them at idle. Mine is blocked off, so I set my idle to just shy of 1000k, so that way when I turn on the AC, it drops to right at like 750-800 RPM. That way I can run AC and not worry about the car dying on me.
