Autometer???

I've heard a lot of bad things about autometer boost gauges. I've got one thats about 7psi low. Is it true that they are not as good as other gauges??? If so, what is the reccomended gauged under $100?

Re: Autometer???

VDO are nice and cheap also. My autometer fell apart and read about 2 psi low.

Re: Autometer???

Yeah many people complain about the Autometer Boost gauges not sittng on the zero when off, and their EGT probes suck dick. As said above, VDO makes very inexpensive, but decent gauges. Stewart Warner is a step above Autometer, but they "look" about the same.

No it's not. Call up LSE, DB, or Elite. I ordered all of my SWP gauges from Elite about a year ago. If you bleed Slowboy, they also sell SWP.

Re: Autometer???

The most accurate I've found has been the Greddys. Too bad you have to convert your mind to metric. Boo.

I'm probably going to switch certain gauges to Autometer since I'll be replacing my speedo and tach with their bigger, more accurate than stock gauges. The factory tach is a joke once you start making any real power.

Well yeah, you get the point. I believe the pictures are of a cluster that Nick Drake of Pina Motorsports did but I'm not for sure. I got them off of Tuners about 3 years ago.

Re: Autometer???

i have an autometer boost gauge and i like it, the only problem i have with it it once in a blue moon when i start the car it stays at zero instead of going into vac, but once the car gets warmed up it acts normal again or i just boost it real quick and hard and it goes back to normal.

Re: Autometer???

I have only heard of one problem with autometer guages until I read this thread. All the people modified enough to use any guages up here have autometer ones, as well as all of the stock cars I ever looked in. I dont know, thats what my Talon will be getting.

Re: Autometer???

Ok thanks, I feel a lot better about it now. The main reason I posted this thread was because my autometer boost gauge is about 6psi off. It came on my car when I baught it a few months ago. So it could just be old idk. I'll just get a new autometer gauge. thanks!

Re: Autometer???

All my autometers work just fine and read accurately except my EGT gauge which has a bad harness. My oil pressure gauge which the light doesnt work and makes the other 5 dimly glow, doesnt work at night unless I unplug it and plug it back in. Speaking of which if anyone who has an OPG that would like to maybe sell cheap I might be the man.

So, if your gauge is not working properly. How do you know your 6PSI off? I hope you are not comparing your stock guage with your factory gauge!
