BOV on my 3S

I know this isn't the right forum but I figured you guys might still be able to help. My 2G DSM did the same thing so I'm thinking it's probably the same solution/cause. I put a 1G BOV (ie one that actually holds boost) on my 3000GT VR4 last night and it boosts to like 15PSI at WOT. So.... I was just wondering should the BCS be taking care of this and keeping it at 12? Or does it sound like something is wrong? I mean a solution should be to put a MBC on, but was just wondering if there was something wrong with my BCS.

Damn cars....

Re: BOV on my 3S

Are you using an aftermarket boot gauge or the OEM one? The OEM one is totally inacurrate.

If it's actually boosting to 15psi then something may be wrong. Maybe the leaky OEM BOV just masked it. On the other hand I ran my 3S at 15psi for four years no problems (well at least no problems due to 15psi).

I'd just get a boost controller and be done with it.

Re: BOV on my 3S

Yeah it's an aftermarket gauge had it on the car for about 2 weeks before the BOV so I know it's reading accurate, before hand with a 2G BOV it was reading about 12.7PSI peak. Thanks for the info though!

It's a BOV I bought from slowbubblecar.

Re: BOV on my 3S

I also had a problem shifting into 5th last night right after the install but I read about it and apparently my BOV is in the way of the "counterweight".... so I'm anxious to find out if someone was pulling leg or if this is indeed fact.... at least they didn't say it was my muffler bearings.

Re: BOV on my 3S

The stock 3/S BOV usually leaks, so it doesn't surprise me that your boost rose a bit. But it shouldn't be at 15psi, unless you have a boost controller. Maybe your gauge is off. What other mods are you running?

As far as hitting the counter weight.... I used a zip tie and tied the BOV over to the hard line running under the MAS. I use the 1g DSM BOV on both my 3/Ses. They work great.

You should really be on MN 3/S: http://mn3s.zforcenetwork.com/index.php We don't bite.

Re: BOV on my 3S

I'll join I just like be part of a community and it's hard enough with DSM Style, I signed up for the meet. I'll join tonight sometime. Yeah the boost gauge I'm pretty sure is reading accurate because it was reading about 12.7 or so with the 2G DSM BOV on for a few weeks.

My 2G DSM did the same thing when I put a 1G BOV on without a MBC.... it's just driving me nuts. It makes me wonder if I hooked it up wrong...ooooo
