SAFC II or Dsmlink?
Should I get both the SAFC II and Dsmlink? Or is it not really worth it to get the SAFC II and just save up to get the Dsmlink? Sorry if this is a noobish question.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
The SAFC2 is not that bad of a choice, you can make power and have decent driveability with it. Pretty much everyone will say DSMLink is a MUCH better option, very user friendly and has was more potential to make power reliably versus an safc2. I guess you just need to figure out what your budget is, and where you want to go with your car (power wise).

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
I asked 1ViciousGSX/sleepydsm this questions couple of weeks back, they recommend DSMlink over MAFT and SAFCII! But if your already have them use them! But SAFCII is not needed! haha

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
Don't you retain a MAF with dsmlink? I thought I've seen MAFT setups with dsmlink.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
The MAF-T really should be kept seperate of DSMLink or a SAFC. No matter which tuning device I chose, I'd still run it along with the MAF-T.
I personally ran the MAF-T/AFC combo since DSMLink wasn't yet available for the 1G. My setup was very simple and easy to tune, I had no complaints. I did the general broad tuning with the MAF-T box, then did all the fine tuning with the AFC.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
Well, this is not anytime soon but I will be upgrading to a Big16g, bigger injectors and fuel pump. With all that, I am pretty sure I am going to need something like a SAFC II or the Dsmlink to tune it. I guess some people have been telling me to just save up to buy the Dsmlink instead of the Safc II. I'm driving a 2g GST btw and plan on running into the 13s area is my goal for the car and I'm done.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
The real question is What size injectors are you planning on running? correct me if Im wrong, but safcII works by tricking your ecu and allowing more air/fuel up to a certain point. Stock injectors are 440ccs and if you upgrade much past 650s you are going to have a really rough tune. Go with dsmlink-you'll want it in the end anyways. I'm saving for it and I know it'll be worth every penny.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
I'm probably going to go with 580cc injectors. Those good enough?

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
What is teh rest of your setup? You can do 550s and a 2g mas upgrade on a
1G and they somewhat level out.

550/580cc injectors are no problm at all for a SAFC. I've personally used both 550 and 650cc injectors with an AFC.

Walbro 255lph fuel pump, 580cc injectors, Big16g, some type of brand of intercoolers, maybe buschur racing? Megan Racing downpipe, anything else I'm missing here?

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
I have Dsmlink and its awesome, almost incomparable to AFC but for your mods above i wouldn't recommend a dsmlink setup, you don't need it.
Dsmlink V3 (which is not coming out soon) will have the compatibility to run a MAF without a translator, and i heard whispers of a speed density setup.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
The big benefit with DSMLink is the ability to control timing. The thing everybody forgets is that tricking the ecu will have adverse effects on your timing. In most cases larger injectors w/SAFC will cause your timing to be higher, especially on 1g cars. This comes from the ecu seeing less air flow per revolution.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
Piggyback in the hizzouse!!! I have an SAFC2 with my 650's, but I also have a burnt chip for them so my SAFC adjustments are a little less. Sure DSMLink is better, but meh. I think once I decide to upgrade from my SAFC2, I'll probably end up using Ostrich.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
With the setup you plan on running, SAFC II will work great. Get DSMlink if you have the extra money to spend, and plan on going bigger later.

Re: SAFC II or Dsmlink?
I ran safc+ chip + maft for 2 years. it gets the job done. DSM link is way better in every way in my opinion. its like re burning wour chip with every adjustment and doesnt fool the ecu.

I tuned it myself.
For the low setting, I just did some calculations between the stock and aftermarket injectors and try to make it run as normal as it can.
For the hi setting I just tuned it wot for zero knock.
Works great for me.
