Tranny Counterweight...

I did a search and couldnt find anything on this. but is the counterweight on the shift arms at the tranny needed? What are the potential Risks or gains in removing this?

Its not needed. Ive read its just there for smoother shifts and whatnot. Plus if you put in a 6bolt you NEED to remove it because it hits the lower radiator hose.

This is false. I have a 6 bolt and it still has the counterweight.

I think i may cut it off. then drill a hole in it and tie it to the rear bumper like those trailer hitch balls that you see on trucks. LOL
