Fuel?!
I'm in the market to purchase a new turbo. After research I've decided to go with an evo 3 16g turbo. I was reading on supporting mods and I'm just not sure which fuel pump and injector size to go with. I've read that a 190lph is a good pump and its quiet. I also found out that 550cc injectors should be good for the 16g turbo. Now what if I get those and then down the line I want to install some cam's for a little more power? Would I need 650cc injectors and a 255lph fuel pump? I wanted to stay away from the 255lph because I've read that it makes a loud whine or whistle noise. So what size injectors and fuel pump should I go for with a evo 3 16g turbo? I have an SAFC for tuning.

Re: Fuel?!
550cc injectors with a Walbro 190 is the perfect setup for a 16G. It'll be enough fuel to support whatever you do with that turbo. I ran a rewired 190 with my 20G and it was fine.

Re: Fuel?!
Might as well get some 650 injectors, unless you find a smokin' deal on some 550's. I would look at IC piping and BOV very soon too.

Re: Fuel?!
IC piping (preferably a whole FMIC setup) would be good. If you have a 2G definitely upgrade the BOV, but if you have a 1G just "crush" it in a vice. Hopefully you also have turbo-back exhaust and a new o2 housing would also be a great idea (ported EVOIII to match that turbo would be good).
Give us a complete list of your mods so we know what you're working with here.

Re: Fuel?!
Yes I guess I should have given a list of my mods. The car is currently in storage for the winter with the following parts installed: dejon tool intake, greddy S bov, SAFC, manual boost controller, boost gauge, egt guage. I have the following parts at home, not installed: evo 3 o2 manifold ported, RRE downpipe, high flow cat, magnaflow 3" cat back, FMIC (no piping yet) and a 1g throttle body. So as you can tell from my list I am missing an upgradded turbo, injectors and fuel pump. I was wondering too, if I get 550cc or 650cc injectors with a 190 fuel pump will I need a FPR? Hopefully my list of mods helped, thanks for the input guys.

Re: Fuel?!
I have been liking my EVO injectors. They are a little bigger than the 550's.
You shouldn't need a FPR for a 190lph.

Re: Fuel?!
Evo 8 or Evo 9 injectors? I was reading that you could also use a evo 8/9 fuel pump? Do you need to modify anything to make it fit? So a decent setup could be evo injectors and evo fuel pump with a rewire for my evo3 16g? Is it also sufficient fuel upgrades if I were to put in HKS 264 cams down the road?

Re: Fuel?!
You will not need a FPR with the Walbro 190. The 550/190 combo will supply plenty of fuel if you install cams.

Walbro 190's are barely louder than stock; even rewired I couldn't hear mine.

Re: Fuel?!
Must be a design change somewhere. My old 255 was loud, so I changed to a Supra pump. I just switch over to dual 255's and they are very quiet, at least compared to the rest of the car.

Re: Fuel?!
Well the evo fuel pump is a Denso unit so it is much more quiet and its mitsu factory quality. I just don't know if it will flow enough to support what I want. I guess I'll stick with a might be noisy or not noisy walbro 190lph.

Re: Fuel?!
Dont be a wimp and cry over a loud fuel pump, if you're concerned about being too loud you might as well not put on your exhaust either. Just turn your music up, and get a AFPR and a 255 HP.

He doesn't need that much fuel, buy what you need to properly match your setup and requirements.

Re: Fuel?!
I have EVO 8 injectors. Like I said, work great.
I also have an evo 8 fuel pump, but haven't installed it, because the line is threatening to snap when I take out the old one. It is supposed to flow about the same as the 190 when rewired, but I can't comment personally as I have yet to test it out.
Both are much cheaper. Most people recomend buying new when it comes to a fuel pump.

Re: Fuel?!
Make sure to rewire your fuel pump as well.

I'm glad you posted this, as it was exactly what I was thinking. Do you plan on doing any dynoing throughout your mods? I'd be very curious to see your current setup vs. with the exhaust, or with the exhaust and then after the turbo, etc. I know it isn't free, but inquiring minds would love to know!
