Hood Vent
Just got home from Florida today. There were a couple real nice packages waiting for me, which is always nice This is just something else to help me combat my running issue. YES YES it may still be my head gasket, despite it passing all my tests. But either way, I figured all this can do is help. I grabbed the grinder and cutting disc. And about 2 hours later, here's how she looks!

Re: Hood Vent
I think it looks good. I kind of sucks that it can't be in the middle, but I will work better closer to the intake.

Re: Hood Vent
Ya, I was asking the RRE guy about that, none of theirs are centered neither due to the hump. I don't mind it though. You can definately feel heat coming out of there. If feels like the radiator fans are blowing hot air right out!

Re: Hood Vent
Could you have used the same vent that the EVO's have? It looks ok, but if its actually functional thats even better.

Re: Hood Vent
There are some vents that look like the ones on the Evo's, but I guess I personally didn't like how they looked on 1g's. RRE uses these ones on a bunch of their cars, and I always liked how they looked, so I just ordered it up from their Carbon Trix division (carbontrix.com). As far as functionality, it's what they use on a bunch of their road racing cars, and it's apparently been working for them. It's one of those things I know people will chime in and say it's not needed and what not, but I've been just having loads of issues with running hot, and this can only help. So I gave it a shot. Plus it was only 99 bucks.

Re: Hood Vent
I can't say I'm a big fan. The hump kinda throws everything off. But hey if you like it that's all that matters right.

Re: Hood Vent
I did, but:
VIS invader hood = $700, and looks like holy hell on 90-91's.
RRE Carbon Trix hood vent = $99, and doesn't look like holy hell

Re: Hood Vent
Looks pretty sweet. I hope it works well for you. I've also been tossing around the idea of making mine a vented hood, or getting a vented hood.

Re: Hood Vent
I'm not a huge fan either, but if it works then good!
I'm in the same boat, except it's sitting there after jsut driving on the highway. I'm convinced it's my weak fans. I need better ones, and them both on the front of the thick radiator pushing fresh air into it, rather then trying to suck it through the fmic, oil cooler AND radiatior, only to have the DNP and 67 right there.
