question about head and block..

Will I'm planning on to bore my 6 bolt block .20, i was wondering if i have to do anything to my head to match it or can i just put the stock head right on it. What do you guys think i should do. Any good place to take my block to and bore it, let me know. Thanks a lot.

Re: question about head and block..

The head will be OK. If it is a 2.4L block make sure the two little coolant passages are drilled at the timing belt end of the block.

Re: question about head and block..

No special prep except you want to give the machine shop your pistons so they can measure them accurately. Each type of piston has a different expansion rate and needs a different piston to wall clearance. It's not as simple as just boring .020" unless you're dropping in plain old mitsu pistons and don't care.

Motors By Gosh has done all of my machine work, and IMO, he does excellent work. I don't have his contact info handy, but I'm sure some people here do

You should give that new Brian Crower 2.6L stroker kit a shot. Come on, be the site guinea pig!

Not yet, the one first sawed the block in half on start-up. j/k

I don't know if it will ever really take off. Everybody is either complaining about the poor rod ratio the 2.4L has or that the 2.4L makes too much torque and will trash your tranny. So I can't see how anybody will like the 2.6L any better, it only makes those two issues worse. Me, I like torque, but I'm not sure if the benefits out weigh the cost. Although more stroke has a bigger benefit than more bore size by comparison, going from a 2.4L to the 2.6L is only about 8-9% more displacement where as going from a 2.0L to a 2.4L is 20%. Now if you go from 2.0L to 2.6L then you get a whopping 29% increase in displacement. But you can go 2.4L for a lot less money.
