safc and wide band help?

ok so the rpm display on my safc doesn't work. it hasn't worked since I installed it. ive double checked it a couple times and i'm pretty sure I have it wired in right. i'm wondering if this could have an affect on how the safc will work?

as for the wideband I wired it in and it works but now I have a check engine light on.

so I'm wondering if someone can help me a little bit. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Re: safc and wide band help?

If your RPM doesn't work, you're missing something in hooking up your SAFC. Check your wiring again, specifically the tach wire.

For the wideband, the wiring is independent of anything that would cause a CE. Check what the code is and go from there.

Re: safc and wide band help?

my safc I wired in the rpm wire once then rewired it in again and it still doesn't work. maybe i'm a retard. as for the wideband the directions said something about wireing resistors somewhere or a check engine light would come on. something about a code for the heating wire or something

Re: safc and wide band help?

Are you using the wideband in place of a stock o2 sensor? If so, then yes, that would cause a CEL unless you take the needed steps to disable it.

Your S-AFC will not work unless the RPM is wired in correctly.

Re: safc and wide band help?

yes I am using the wideband in place of the stock o2 sensor and I tried following the directions on how to wire it in so it won't throw cel but I obviously didn't do it right. I guess I'll just search for more info and try going through it all again

Re: safc and wide band help?

yeah I put a resistor in mine but I wasn't sure what wires by the ecu to put it so I tried wiring it in to the heater wires on the narrow band connector and that didn't work.

Re: safc and wide band help?

Are you sure you tapped the correct pin for the tach signal? I was looking at the install instruction for the SAFC on the VFAQ website and it looks like they are wrong. It's telling you to tap pin #16 for the tach signal. The description says

"RPM Wire: Connect the Green wire of the AFC harness to the Black wire corresponding to the connector hole as shown above (bottom row, 4th from left)."

Here is the picture to go with the statement which tells you to tap pin #16 showing the tab on the top. The problem is that Pin #16 is for the Barometric Pressure sensor, not the tach signal.

It should read, tap the 4th wire from the right, not left. You want pin #24, not 16.

EDIT -> Someone correct me if I'm reading it wrong, but it looks like the wrong pin is labeled for the MAS connection too. If you look at the VFAQ ECU pinouts, it's telling you to tap the barometric pressure sensor for the tach and the turbo gauge for the MAS?

what's your number? so I can get ahold of you

as for the vfaq wiring thats how I did it and it didn't work so I rewired it by the instruction manual for the safc and it still didn't work. so I don't know. I'll double check my wiring when I get a chance
