90 laser stock high rpm studder

my laser just started doing this i dont know what is causing it. so far i have changed plugs did a boost leak test feels like its running out of fuel it has melted 2 plugs so far. the only thing that is done to the car is fmic s16 @t stock boost and 3 in exhaust maf is clean i haven't done a fuel pump rewire . is melting plugs a sign of lean ? they are set at stock gap .030

its ran fine up till a month ago until i changed the timing belt everything is perfect

any ideas ?

Do you have a boost gauge? Sounds like boost creep to me.

Sounds like it's going super lean. Do you have a wideband in it or any way to log it?

Re: 90 laser stock high rpm studder

Melting plugs is usually a sign of detonation, things i would check would be
Base timing
how clean the injectors are or if they are all functioning properly
check your fuel pressure as well as ,fuel filter, and fuel pump sock (21 year old car it could have some crap that came loose in the tank and plugged this partially)

Are your monitoring your A/F ratios at all? If not you could borrow someones logger or scan tool and check for knock and monitor o2 voltage (gives you a pretty rough idea of your A/F ratios) to see if it is going really lean or if your ignition timing is out of wack for some reason.

Re: 90 laser stock high rpm studder

ah boost is at 12psi then creeps up to 15 then back down i took it out again to night when there was open roads and did a 5th 50-100 wot and really tried to listen to the engine on what it was doing
it only dose it under a load so like 1st 2nd no issues then 3rd it starts to then 4th runs like its missing at 1/4 th to 1/2 then i hit 5th and its the same or worse to get it up to speed it has to be in low boost like 5 or less

i have no way of telling what afrs are i do have a wide band but its in my talon i dont want to pull it out i know its not a boost leak i just took everything apart and put silicone on my pipes and sealed it up

is the check engine light suppose to flash when there is detonation or is that dsm link only i do have dsm link in the talon could i pull my 91 talon ecu and put it in my 90 laser try to find what is going on ?
