Just got the fuel pump in and my injectors and a ghetto intercooler pipe that kept blowing off plus i'm totally untuned. I'm on 11-12 LBS of boost on my 50 trim with a stock sidemount and a really sucky exhaust. The guys from QPR know what I'm talking about. One of my friends has a 2002 WRX with exhaust on it so we raced from a 30 roll. He pulled a car on me because he spooled faster (DAMN BIG TURBO'S) But then I kept up with him. I'm happy about it at the moment. But I do need more mods SOON!!

No offense, but since when is a 50 trim such a big turbo that one would have spooling issues? At least when all the supporting mods are there...

Nice though.

Because its the new 16g for everyone and their mom, so people think it's "small". :secret: The thing is, the people with these new 16g's arent even using their turbos to near their max potential and some even blame being slow on the "small" 50 trim.

Back on topic: This is your AWD I assume Curtis?

At my work one of the dealer trades, was a 2001-2 WRX it had bigger EXH, FMIC and boost turned up, so I had to race it with my 16g FWD, and ya it beat my off the line but in the end I beat it. :dsmrule:

Not to sound like a cock, but did that WRX have more mods? I've walked a WRX with exhaust on the freeway from 40.

I do not call a 50 trim laggy by any means. What did you race to? If I remember correctly, at 30mph, you are at ~4000 rpm in second. I raced an SRT4 from that on my 50 trim. I pretty much spent 2nd building boost and slowely pulling till I hit 3rd and was gone. The lagginess should ony be noticable while spooling the turbo initially. If you were in 2nd, you shouldn't have had much of a problem as long as you didn't double clutch every gear.

Don't worry, you will totally whoop his ass shortly.

WRX's are not fast cars by any means. I raced one on 94E by the Radio Drive exit one time with Nash in Jets 1500 winter beater (only mods are 2.5" cat back, MBC, and KN intake). We went from like 60-130 and I had him by a bus length the whole time and he was not catching at all.

So spool time wouldn't make a bit of difference if you raced for more than a block because you should fly by him like he is standing still unless your tune is super super shitty.

WRX's do not represent the whole "227hp" like they claim. A stock 1G DSM would take one with a good driver.

CRAIG

I don't believe that. Stock 1Gs run high 14s, and I have a video of a stock wrx hitting 13.9. Now be it that a WRX does not have the same top end a DSM has, from a stop I'd easily go with a WRX, stock vs. stock.

If his tranny were that worn out maybe he'd have to double clutch... I have never had to on any car I have driven.

good job curtis.
Guys he litterally has the turbo off his 2g bolted on to his car. Thats it, a downpipe that goes to his cratastic exhaust, a beat up 1g sidemount, and stock pieced together piping, his car is really weak right now, so that fact that he is out raceing it....
...lol j/k curtis, just go get it turned and actually turn up the boost after ic work.
and exhaust.

I would really like to see video of a bone stock WRX doing that. I have talked to people before that said their car was totally stock. They had a boost controller and all the free mods. That is not stock. This is probably the same deal.

There is a possibility that he was lying, but if someone needs attention that bad to where they lie about there car pulling a time stock, that's sad. Other than him, with a really good 60' time, low 14s is normal.

Stock 1g's can run a 14.1 pretty consistantly.

There is no way a TOTALLY stock 1G can run a 14.1. Im sorry but thats not possible unless you up the boost, etc.

Peter is right. My 2nd gear synchro was worn and I double clutched everytime going up (unless I was racing or something). My point was that the turbo is not laggy unless you are VERY slow at shifting where you have to wait for it to respool.

do you really shift so slow that you dont have it in the next gear by the time the rpm drops? :stick:
