Boost Leak?

I noticed that sometimes when I go into boost, it feels like my car is getting slower instead of faster, and its sipping quite a bit more fuel than I had expected, and when I had my friend rev my engine a little bit, the exhaust behind the car smelled like gas, also whenever my friends drive behind me they say it smells bad, do you think that a boost leak would cause this?

Im no expert, (now where near, by a long shot!!) ok ok, im a n00by, anyways would a boost leak cause the engine to run very rich because its getting less air than it should, and thus not burn all the fuel and put it out the exhaust?

thanks
-Charlie
