Radiator Opinions

1992 Tsi AWD 6 bolt 5 spd

I need a new radiator (upper hose neck broke off, and it's on its way to the shitter).

Should I get a used radiator from someones backyard (ie junkyard, HORT's garage, etc)? Or should I shell out the extra cash and get a pretty alum. radiator (Koyo, because it's cheaper than the Fluidyne)? Or a new stock one?

Also, will a 2G radiator fit? I'm guessing no.
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Radiator Opinions

2g radiator has the inlet in a different spot. I would probably just get a used one, or a new stocker. I have one that is in so-so shape you can have for $10 (I am pretty sure I still have it).

Re: Radiator Opinions

If you want a 2g radiator I still have my original. No leaks, only removed to install my Fluidyne 2 yrs ago. Make offer.

Re: Radiator Opinions

Does anyone else have any 1G radiator opinions? I'm surprised that mine isn't leaking yet based on the condition it is in. This is for my '92 Laser which currently has A/C but I will probably remove it since it does not work. So I figure I had start getting opinions.

For 1Gs I have seen these models:
PWR
Fluidyne
Spearco
C&R
Griffin
Koyo
Parts store replacement (Napa, Carquest, etc.)
Radiator Express (http://www.radiatorexpress.com/produ...aia_id=1238284)
RadiatorBarn (http://www.radiatorbarn.com/s7.asp?a...L+ENGINE+SIZES)

Thanks

I bought a new one from APEX on Penylavania Ave in St. Paul. It cost me 105 + tax.

Re: Radiator Opinions

I would get a stock style replacement for most cars. I run a fluidyne, but it is overkill on most cars.

Re: Radiator Opinions

I'll be buying a fluidyne once my motor shows up. But in the florida heat I need as much cooling as I can get.

Re: Radiator Opinions

I put the rad out of my spyder in to my 92 you have to grind down the sides to make it fit and a 2.4 spyder one or one from a n/t has the right upper outlet on it
If you just want a stock 1g rad I have 2 in good shape
