Knock Sensor

After pulling the head, I inspected the knock sensor. The back of the sensor seems like it exploded. There is a trail of the melted backside on the back of the block. I am assuming that is not good for the sensor (to have the back of the sensor gone, its like this black stuff)? Anyways, what caused that, and how much does a new sensor cost? Thanks!

Re: Knock Sensor

That's normal after a while. The goo they put in there melts and the thing is shot.

So if I have a trail of what looks like hardened blood coming from my knock sensor bleeding down the back of my block the knock sensor is bad?

Re: Knock Sensor

i'm gonna go with yes. stick your finger on the back of it, and it it's not there, then yeah, i'd replace it and get a spare for later if it was 5 bucks. can't even see a movie for that little anymore.
