Well, the PCV goes to the intake normally, so that's why it's going there now, and in all of the KV setups I've seen, that is how it's done. I suppose you could hook up both ports on the valve cover to the catch can and only one vacuum source, but either way, it's good to have two different source for vacuum, if possible.
Anyway, as long as there is a vacuum, both the pcv and vent will see that vacuum, doesn't really matter where you get it, as long as there's a check valve.
