starts then dies right away. need help asap!!!

so last night i got pulled over for no good reason at all, i just turned around cuz i needed gas and he saw me turning around in a usedf car dealership so he pulled me over cuz he thought i was "up to something". turns out he was a pretty cool guy just a dink. so i shut my car off cuz its a little noisier than stock (apexi n1 turbo back) and i didn't want to get a ticket and he takes my info and comes back to tell me im ok to go. keep in mind its 2 am this morning and i just got off of work like 10 min before hand. so i go to start my car and nothing just sits and cranks. tryied it a copuple more times and still nothing.

so i get under the hood and check all my connections and stuff try it again and nothing same deal, so i check my throttle posstion sensor jiggle it around and do the same to my cam sensor and it fires right up then 3 seconds later just shuts off, no drama just turns off and wont start again. try cranking it a couple more times... nothing. so i giggle the tps again try it again and fires right up then shuts right off after a few seconds.

what do you guys think it is? im stumped. its had idle surge since i threw the new tranny in it but its never done this. it also might have had an injector miss fire a little bit ago, sounded and felt like it was a really weak consistent miss but when we checked the plugs and wires they were fine

Try a different TPS sensor.

sounds to me like your problem lies with the tps sensor, since u jiggle it and it starts? Just my 2 cents.

Dug into it today. Replaced the Tps, nothing different so I replaced the coolant temp sensor nothing. Feeling very discouraged I turned to nick who was a giant help and he told me to do the mpi and ecu and still same problem. Thanks to iceminion and Kerry (talonracer) I have it pretty much traced back to things not getting power like a short or something so ima try another battry and try back probeing everything and see if anything comes up

This is very strange.....DSM's have rock solid wiring harnesses and rarely have running issues....

you may also want to try a different MAF.

Get a log of your car running.

Trace the power to the ECU, see if it cust out after you turn it on.

This cant be it because if he says that when the car dies and not only does the engine kill but the gauge cluster and cluster lights go off then it has to be an issue with the ecu or power supplying the ecu. It cant be any car sensor.

I think it is the ecu. Even know you said that it is rebuilt there is still a posability that there are bad components in it that were not fixed with the repair causing it to do what it is doing, loosing power. Try a friends KNOWN good ecu out of their running car.

after talking to him on the phone, what he told me was that the oil gauge and tach dies.

I think this is not a symptom at all, at idle, put your car in 5th, release clutch, tach and oil pressure dies.

The lights to the gauges stay on, the car stays "on" but the engine isnt running.

This is completely different from a complete BCM failure.

I know switching MAF's probably won't fix it, but chances are this is a sensor issue, and it is easy to replace.

Ok well we need to know if when the car dies if ALL of the lights and everything on the instrument cluster goes off. When I talked to him he stated that everything would shut off, All the lights and guages.

ok lights stay on but everything else dies. i was talking to my boss who has been working on cars his whole life and has several exreamly fast mopars and a ton of newer cars he just works on to get running and he said that it is for sure my fuel pump or something to do with fuel. he said i might have fried half of my pump so on startup it draws ove twice the current and it may be drawing too much curent and everything else may not be getting enough the car was getting low on fuel at the time and i had just been messing around a little so i might have starved the pump of enough fuel to be properly lubricated and it could have over heated and fried half the coils. so i am going to try the fuel pump out of my parts talon and see if it fixes it. we'll see.

i have changed out 2 maf's and it wouldn't be the maf anyways because it would still start but it would just run in limp mode. i have also tryed 3 different ecu'sand 2 more mpi relays
