Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Mine is a 7bolt and my CAM sensor sits in the same spot as a 1g, right next to the thermostat housing. I guess I thought they were in the same location on all 4g63's.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
well its not cranking fast enough.... and clutch seems to not release all the way???? could it be in the clutch system????
compression is
#1: 30 psi
#2: 35psi
#3: 25psi
#4: 40psi
could that be from just cranking slow????

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
The clutch would have nothing to do with the compression numbers. You'd be testing the compression with it in neutral anyways.
You'd get slightly lower numbers with slower revolutions like if the battery was weak but those numbers are incredibly low.

You obviously have something wrong here. Those compression numbers are way way low, obviously.
Are you cranking with the throttle plate all the way open? Are your cams properly installed?

Sounds like you dont have the clutch assembled correctly. Obviously in neutral your wheels shouldnt move.
How about cranking with the clutch pedal pushed in and properly bled? What does it do then?

That's pretty odd. That would be a tranny issue if the wheels are spinning forward in neutral regardless of how screwed your clutch and engine may be.

In the 2g's they are behind the intake cam gear. At least all of the ones I have had. Someone probably put a 1g cas in yours or something unless the 99's are different from the 95-96.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Mine is a '99 and it's the original cam sensor that's on the opposite end of the cam gear (passenger side) like a 1g -see pic of my engine

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
I think that even though its in neutral the wheels will spin. Do it and have someone try to stop it, it shouldnt be hard at all.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Of course the wheels are going to spin when you crank it over in gear. When you're in neutral, they should not spin at all. If the transmission worked before you pulled the engine, you've probably screwed up the shifter assembly where it ties into the transmission. Crank it over and play with the transmission under the car, putting it through the different gears. You should be able to find your problem there. If not, I have no clue.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
You need to figure out why you're compression numbers are so low. Recheck the timing belt. If that's good, well then you have some other problems, and that head is probably going to have to come off at a minimum.
