Sounds like a vacuum problem to me.

My truck got the same symptoms when the EGR valve seized.

Do you think, that, even if the EGR was jammed all the way open, would it cause issues like this?

And vacuum leaks? this car is MAP, it reads the pressure in the manifold and adjusts fuel accordingly, vaccum leaks on this car = irrelevant.

I'll have to dig out the Chilton for it, I sold the truck years ago. I didn't do much work on it myself, so I'm not sure if it was MAP or MAF. It was the Isuzu 2.4l, if anyone knows.

Regardless, when the valve seized, it wouldn't even idle without being held at partial throttle.

it's a map car if it had a vacuum leak it would idle high not low. and as for vacuum leaks being irrelavent they still are relavent they just cause different problems then they would on a maf car. a stuck open egr valve could cause this though
