Re: Black Friday sales!
I'd like to find a TV of my own (not that my roommate cares if I use his 50" LCD) but I have nowhere to put it.

Re: Black Friday sales!
If I were going to get a new TV, id def look into a new LED style. Think of how long you will keep the TV around, might as well go as big and as nice as you can afford.

Re: Black Friday sales!
Ive been looking at a 55"+ LCD tv. Not sure if we will actually buy it on black friday, we will be up at my parents, but if walmart or target has good deals we may have to make the trip to grand rapids in the morning.

Re: Black Friday sales!
im waiting to get money from some people before i can make plans.
btw, the led tv will not last longer than a lcd, the only difference is the backlight, not how the picture actually comes together

The average LCD TV lasts 60-80k hours, which is about 9 years of constant time being turned on. LED TVs are supposed to surpass that. Even then, most people upgrade within that time frame anyway, to something newer and better.

Man, some(most) of those front-load style washer/dryers are so damn expensive. Do they do your laundry in 5 minutes or come with a maid? The cubic inch load sizes don't seem to be much bigger than an old POS top load washer.

We have a Kenmore Elite Front load washer and dryer. (came with the house we are renting). They are nice and have lots of buttons and options. I dont know if it really makes a difference My fiance seems to think so. They are High Efficiency, They look nice though. It also makes for a good place for my son to play.

The biggest benefit is their energy efficiency and how much gentler they are on clothes. They use about half the electricity and a lot less soap. The Whirlpool pair we like is $900 at Best Buy right now and we're hoping for a few hundred more off for Black Friday.

Re: Black Friday sales!
Is electricity expensive in Texas? I have seen the energy savings claims, but electricity is so cheap in MN compared to Cali or some states on the east coast that I think it would take me 30 years to make the money back. $900 for a pair isn't bad at all though compared to those ones that are $1000 each. I need a black friday sale on a furnace.

The only difference is that the back lighting is made of LEDs instead of a mercury vapor based cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL). Some people like the LEDs, some prefer the fluorescent, some don't care. Aside from that the LCD panels themselves are the same.
Regardless of what TV you look at I recommend getting a 120hz one and never look back.

Price per kw is right around 9-cents here right now, what are you paying? I wish I saved my work from when I figured out how long it would take to cover the difference but it was quick enough to make it worth it in my mind.
*edit*
Decent info: http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/laundry.html
